Please read the following carefully, if you think you can not carry out the fitting of this system, please return the complete unused system to Laser Designs and we will issue a full refund.

Remove the chips from original Canon ink cartridges; it is better if you wait until all the original Canon cartridges are showing they have expired, take your time and try to remove the chip with a Kraft knife by cutting the small plastic rod on the right of the cartridge from under the chip (do not damage the chip or the system can not work) remove the chip by pushing out to the right, if you do damage the chip you will have to replace it!

Place each chip on the new system cartridges corresponding to the correct colours. On each cartridge there are two small plastic rods, place the chips corresponding mounting holes over the rods placing the chip right way up! Then heat your Kraft knife blade over a small flame, just enough to melt the plastic rods and fix the chips in to place.

Do not try and fix the chips with super glue, we tried and they were ruined!

After inserting the refillable ink cartridges into the printer, prime each one with the correct colour ink, we recommend 8 millilitre of ink for all Canon CISS systems, leave to rest in the printer for around 1 hour then top up with 4 millilitre of ink. Fill the ink storage tanks with the correct colour inks leaving a 2 centimetre air gap at the top of the tank, when in use do not let the ink in the tanks drop below 1 .5 centimetres. Fit the small clear plastic filters into the ink tanks or the system won’t work! The tanks hold around 80 millilitre of ink each.

When you switch the printer on you will receive the following warning screens, read each one carefully if you do not want to lose your warranty use only original Canon ink cartridges. And return the unused system to Laser Designs.

Screen 1: the remaining level of the following ink cannot be correctly detected. Replace the ink tank. If you want to continue using ink tank click OK.

Screen 2: the ink tank that was once empty is installed; printing under the current condition may damage the printer. If you want to continue printing click yes this operation will release the function for detecting the remaining ink level.

Screen 3: releasing the function for detecting the remaining ink level memorised, Canon shall not be liable for any printer malfunction or damage caused by refilled ink tanks. Do you release the function for detecting the remaining ink level? Click yes.

You then press the ink resume button for 5 seconds, this will release you from the ink level function, and this will have to be repeated for each cartridge. After clearing all the diabolical methods to stop you using compatible inks you can now print for ever using ink that will cost you anywhere from 10 to 20 pence for each cartridge refill!

Print around 3 full colour A4 photographs this will ensure the ink flows freely through the tubes into the ink cartridges. If the ink does not flow through the tubes use the head clean facility, this forces the ink through the tubes.

The system comes with stick on fixings so that you can route the ink tubes out of the way of other moving parts, if you are not technically minded find a friend who is and let them fit the system, or return the complete system to
Laser Designs for a full refund.
